No One Beer Wonder
The Cambridge House claims its second medal at
The Great American Beer Festival

Granby, Conn. Oct. 3, 2006 The Cambridge House Brewpub recently claimed a silver medal at The Great American Beer Festival Competition (GABF) for its Alt 45 bier. The top three winners in the competition's 69 beer-style categories were announced September 30 at the 25th Great American Beer Festival Awards Ceremony held at the Colorado Convention Center in Denver, Co.

"The Great American Beer Festival is the premier judging event for the American craft beer industry," said Nancy Johnson, festival director.

The "Alt 45" placed second overall in the German-Style Brown Ale category. It is a traditional medium-bodied ale, in which an array of German malt and noble hops produce a crisp, clean and refreshing beer.

"What makes this even more special is that we won for a different style of beer this year. Being only 18 months old and receiving medals in both 2005 & 2006 is just incredible," says Steve Boucino, President / Co-owner at The Cambridge House. Last year The Cambridge House claimed a gold medal for another one of its beers, The Copper Hill K lsch, while attending the GABF for the first time. "We were open for only six months before we won our first award, but to have won a medal for the second year in a row reaffirms that we have something unique to offer." No other breweries in Connecticut have ever won two medals at this festival.

The 2006 Great American Beer Festival Competition winners were selected by an international panel of brewing experts. An impressive field of 2,443 entries were received from 450 U.S. breweries. "It's exciting, being the 25th celebration, that this is our biggest showing of entries. That's proof positive that being chosen a winner, no matter if gold, silver or bronze is truly an accomplishment" says Nancy Johnson, Festival Director.
