GABF "Adventure" 2

Another email just came through from the guys in Denver, CO. I thought I should share it with you. But first...

Multiple choice: Who is Buffalo Bob?
A - Buffalo Bill's younger brother
B - The name of Owner Scott's favorite buffalo at the Bronx Zoo
C - Steve's hero
D - "I meant to say 'Buffalo Bill' in the last email" - Owner Steve

Read yesterday's email again for the answer.

So the announcement of medals will happen tomorrow at 1:30 in Denver (3:30 ET). I will keep you posted if there is any good news to share - a medal or two would be nice - to say the least! Keep your fingers crossed.

September 28th at the GABF

Hey CT:

Scott here from beautiful downtown Denver. Yesterday you read that we took the keys away from Dave. After reading Steve's blog, I've made the decision that we write these BEFORE we start the days imbibing.

We've already stocked the room with some nice local beers and Steves' ever present bottle of Crown Royal. 10:00 AM and we start sampling the beers. This may sound early but its noon back home so it's not really morning drinking. (readers, please insert your own wry comment here). Between the nice beers and the thin air, we get a little tipsy this morning. This may explain why Steve sent 37 emails to Mike back at the restaurant within a 20 minute span and Dave is practicing his pose for the medal picture! I'm not exactly the voice of reason here either as after a few I went online to Crown Royals website and signed Steve & I up to be "Members of the Crown Society" at Crown Royals website. Hope to god we don't have to wear weird hats or something.

Its noon and we're off the final home game for the Colorado Rockies. Check out the website to see the seats Brewer Dave was able to get us. We start off with a few beers at The Sandlot, a brewpub located right inside the stadium. Some peanuts and a Rocky Dog and we're ready to cheer on the home team. But they promptly give up 8 runs in the first three innings on the way to a 19-11 loss. Balls really do fly out in the mile high air. The day wasn't a total loss though, the weather was absolutely perfect and we saw the final home at-bat of a Rockie legend, Vinny Castilla. Solid single to center, nice job Vinny !

We left in the sixth inning to track down Mr Schmidt who just finally arrived in town around 3:00 PM. He worked the graveyard shift at Redhook, then drove right to Boston to fly out. Bet he thought we might let him get some sleep after being up for 30 straight hours.he lost that bet! GABF is all about the beers and darned if we're going to miss anything.

This is the first day of tasting and we got the booth looking sharp. Good crowd for a Thursday night but tomorrow and Saturday will really get nuts. We tried several beers from the competition, some nice ones but skip the Chili beer from California. I'll be tasting that one for at least two more days. At our booth the traffic is pretty good, most people try at least one of ours and the feedback is really great. There was one gentleman who politely told Dave the Alt was too salty. Wonder if they'll ever find his body?

9:00 PM and we decide that the volunteers can pour for the last hour. A quick Seafood dinner at Jax, then Steve Schmidt gets us invited to a private tasting party at The Rock Bottom. Suddenly he has his third wind and now we can't keep up with him. We're also lost Dave by now but since we took away his car keys he can't be far. The Rock Bottom is packed but we call it a night fairly early. Want to be fresh for tomorrow nights session.

That's about it from Denver for Thursday. If we don't locate Dave, we'll be having and Adopt Porter night at the CBH next week!

Scott
