January Newsletter and Updates
Happy New Year and Thanks again to everyone who came to the Customer Party in December!
I have a couple of updates and events that I wanted to tell everyone about so here goes... First, I wanted to remind everyone about the Hartford Advocate Best of Readers' Poll. We are trying to regain our title of "Best Brewpub". Steve has promised "A Hell of a Party" when we win. I'm thinking that means we need to outdo ourselves from our Customer Appreciation Christmas Party. Any ideas?
While you're voting, we would also recommend Thomas Hooker Brewery for Best Microbrewery. Not only do they make good beer, but they are going to let us use their brewery space to brew our beer so we can get our Distribution up and running!
Speaking of Distribution, Steve is up in Canada today picking up four new 50 bbl fermenters for our distribution. That's means we can brew 100 kegs of beer at a time in each fermenter! It looks like the first three brews in these tanks will be the Kolsch, the IPA and the ESB. They'll be going on tap around in more restaurants in Hartford & Tolland counties in March.
More updates... I got to see the final plans for our Torrington restaurant yesterday! We are set for a soft opening in early May along with the grand opening of the new addition to the Warner Theater. Steve wanted me to let you all know that Foreigner is playing at the Warner on May 30th in case you are interested in dinner and a show with Foreigner. I might just wait and see if George Carlin comes back next year!
On to events ... Supre Bowl Sunday is almost here. Of course, we are having a party here at the Brewpub with a free halftime buffet, beer specials and prizes. But, Steve keeps reminding me that it is the biggest pizza takeout day of the year. Last year, Picozzi asked if he could get takeout from us instead. Of course! So we have created a Supre Bowl Party Take Out Menu for all of you this year. This way, even if you can't make it down here for the big game, you still don't have to worry about cooking! Ok, one more thing and then I'll let you all get back to work. I am starting a new monthly event at The Cambridge House: a Wine & Dine Social. I figured not everyone wants to sit down listening to someone drone on about wine at those wine dinners, so we would make it a little more casual and fun. There will be experts in wine to chat about the wine and answer any of your questions, along with four wine and food pairings. It will start at 6:30 on the first Wednesday of every month, beginning February 6th. It costs only $20 and trust me, with the dishes Chef Jim is putting out, you can definitely make a meal out of it! Check out the menu for February by clicking here.
Ok, I think that's all for now!
I hope everyone has survived all of the snow so far this season! An IPA is a great cure for sore arms after shoveling... See you down at the Pub! Meghan
