The Cambridge House needs your help!!

Ask not what your brewpub can do for you; ask what you can do for your brewpub!!!

As many of you are aware the Cambridge House would like to sell its product at other retail outlets such as local package stores, restaurants and hotels. Unfortunately the state of Connecticut's outdated laws do not allow for this (Massachusetts does).

In order to do so The Cambridge House has hired the strategic marketing firm of Lang & Durham to help us bring the state of Connecticut into the 21st century!

If you read the article in the Hartford Courant's business section on 2/14/07 you know what I'm talking about.

Tomorrow we have a meeting with House Chairman of the General Law Committee to discuss our situation. To make this an even more impressive meeting I would like to ask everyone on our VIP list complete the below form (cut & past below text in an email)and email back to me at steveb@cbhbrew.com so I can personally deliver the message of our supporters.

Please fill in the areas as outlined and address it to your local legislator. This information can be found at http://www.cga.ct.gov/maps/Townlist.asp.

I know this is short notice but things happen quickly and we can really use your support!!

Thank you in advance.

Suggested Points to Legislator Letter

Dear {name of legislator}:

I am writing as a resident of {name of town} and as a consumer and patron of
The Cambridge House Brew Pub in Granby.

I have long enjoyed Cambridge House beers, namely {insert the name of the beer}, but I am especially disappointed that Connecticut law prevents this establishment from being able to sell its own specially brewed beer in bottles or containers other than a growler, which preserves beer for no more than six days.

My work, family and life commitments don't allow me the luxury of traveling out to The Cambridge House every time I want to enjoy a bottle of locally produced beer. I might, however, think twice if this beer was sold at my local package store or if I could purchase this product on Cambridge House premises as a six pack, or case.

The law preventing this kind of sale not only deters breweries in this state from expanding their businesses, but it will likely ensure that brewers will take their businesses, jobs and tax dollars to other states that will better accommodate their needs.

I urge you to work with your colleagues to develop a much-needed change in this law.

As a {longtime? How many years in state?} taxpayer, employee (employer?) of Connecticut, I want to see this state thrive. But in order to do so, we must change laws that help our businesses to do the same.

Sincerely,

.
