The people have spoken (at least 300 of you have) and the 2nd official Cambridge House survey is now complete and the results (and changes) are noted below:
How did you hear about the CBH?
27% were referred by someone 12% simply drove by 11% live in town / local 10% Granby Drummer 8% heard our spots on WCCC radio 8% Yankee Flyer 5% Hartford Courant 4% The Advocate 4% our website cbhbrew.com 4% Yankee Brew News 3% Beeravocate.com 2% Friends Club 1% Simsbury Post 1% Newgate News
If you're an ad sales rep and under 4% don't expect any of our advertising dollars too soon....
What do you want to see more of at the CBH?
46 % of respondents want to see live / local music at the CBH. Just to let you know we have live music every Thursday night (open mic night hosted by Dave Costa) and most Friday and Saturday nights with bands like Bloomer, Bandwaggon, Yellow Dog, Christopher John, Blue, Dave Costa, and many more!!!
Some of you (actually only 2) requested Celtic music. According to Co-Owner Scott Scanlon, Irish people don't even like Celtic music. I'm sure on St. Patty's day we can arrange for a jig or two...
A few of you wanted to see Bandwaggon - they will play their first gig here on Friday August 25th hope to see you then.
Music on the deck was also requested, your wish is my command join us on Sunday August 27th at 2:00 for a party on the deck with "Timmy Buffet" - guess who he covers?
Original and local bands were suggested - come on down on Thursday nights for our open mic night and see the good, the bad and sometimes the ugly!
Another suggestion was to have Special Beer prices - currently we have $3.00 happy hour pints every Tues - Fri from 3:00 - 6:00. On Tuesday's pints are only $3.00 all day long and on Saturday nights we have $2.50 pints from 10:00 - close.
More food specials - every Tuesday is .30 wing night, Sunday we run the NFL Special that includes a ½ lb Angus burger, fries and a pint of beer for only $9.99. We normally showcase 2-3 entrée specials over the weekends but will focus on adding more daily dinner and lunch specials as a direct result of this survey.
Bring back Wine Wednesday - we will come this fall / winter season, I promise.
Keep prices reasonable, no need for $12 - $13 appetizers or $28 dinner entrees You're the boss, we have eliminated the pricier brew brew platter, coconut shrimp and the filet mignon. We have added Wraps and Salads as well.
Desserts - actually I didn't see any comments on this but wanted everyone to know that all desserts are now homemade and made on-site. My favorite is the Beerimusu, it's like Tiramisu but we use our own Three Steve's Stout in the baking process.
Misc Suggestions:
Another idea we heard and heard and heard was it's too loud man, too loud. We just installed acoustic ceiling tiles in the side dinning area and the main bar area installation is scheduled in two weeks - hopefully this will tone it down to a nice quite roar.
Comment: Its funny how no one can hear a conversation yet when I say "The next one's on the house," they always seem to hear that, just kidding, kind of sorta...
Did I hear someone say better T.V.s for the bar area - yes I did and we have ordered two new state of the art HD ready Plasma T.V.s coming just in time for NFL football. And did I remember to tell you that we again have the full Direct TV NFL Ticket - every single game will be covered and just in case you are wondering, cell phone reception is very strong in our area (strictly for entertainment purposes).
More beer tastings' and beer dinners - an excellent idea, we are planning on a complete Oktoberfest dinner which will showcase our original Oktoberfest Ale as well as some of our friends Oktoberfest lagers paired with authentic German cuisine - stay tuned for more details.
We are also considering doing a "showcase" beer tasting once a month that will include a guest speaker/ brewer. The first date in this series is scheduled for Wednesday September 13th from 6:00 - 8:00 and will feature "Demon's HopYard IPA" (yes I know who makes this).
We will integrate our beers into this schedule but we'll also try to get our regional and national friends to participate as well. Showcase night will also include a glass souvenir.
One of the 300 respondents suggested Karaoke - I have to assume they were drunk, therefore I will ignore that stupid request.
Another direct benefit of this survey is that we added over 150 new members to our VIP list - let me be the first to say "welcome! And remember to keep thinking outside the bottle"
As the other subscribers know this newsletter is the best way to stay informed of our events, latest brews, owner ramblings - ok I'm still a little pissed off on losing the Lowell brewery property - and much much more.
I would like to thank everyone who participated in this survey - thanks for caring enough to make suggestions and thanks for making us one of your stops! As many of you are probably wondering: "who are the winners of the survey?" Well, Mark Juras, Steve & Lorraine German, Louis Madonna, and Lori Barker, Congratulations, you are the winners (I think they are all relatives of Marketing Mike).
Cheers,
Steve B
