Our Brewer, Dave Weikel
|
| |
Just about anytime you swing by The Cambridge House you should see Dave Weikel working his magic. He is the man who makes the beer, day in, day out. Just look through the windows to see him at work.
Close to a decade of brewing experience, Dave started off as a home brewer. The reason he got started brewing beer was simple he wanted to know exactly what he was putting into his body. After home brewing for a few years, Dave made the jump to make beer as a profession. Starting off at Dogwood Brewery in Atlanta, he then worked at Longtrail Brewery in Vermont, followed by RedHook Brewery in New Hampshire. It was at Red Hook, that Dave met The Cambridge House's Brewmaster, Steve Schmidt, who is also Lead Brewer for Redhook.
An opportunity arose for Dave to be the brewer for The Cambridge House. Dave wanted a more hands-on approach to brewing that was not possible with production brewing. The Cambridge House offered the hands on process that Dave wanted, so Dave took the position.
Thanks to his hard work, The Cambridge House has won five gold medals at two different brewing competitions.
